Traditional Tezhip artworks have been created on various materials such as leather, cardboard, wood, and fabric. Among all the studies conducted, one of the oldest known example of artwork on silk is the silk scroll attributed to Li-Kung-Liu.
Another example, dating back to the early 15th century, consists of colorful Demons painted on silk, attributed to the artist Mehmet Siyah Kalem.
Today, there are silk-screen printing applications that do not carry the value of traditional Tezhip. However, since 1993, the artist Aslıhan N. Güney has been working with gold on silk using classical techniques, while reinterpreting this ancient art through contemporary expressions. In addition to her original batik silk designs, she also works on reproduction pieces.
